Github 2 Factor Auth for repositories?

Impworks
Enabling the 2-factor authorization on Github disables access to repositories added by https link in Smartgit. When I pull or push, a the "Login" prompt appears and even if I enter correct credentials the process always fails with "Authentication failed".

Works fine for repositories where authorization is performed via SSH key and for accounts without 2-factor authoriation. My version is SmartGit 6.0.7.

I expect a verification code prompt to appear instead, just like when I generate a new API token. Are there any plans on fixing this issue?

Please try to get rid of the stored credentials in Preferences - Commands - Authentication, create a personal access token on the GitHub website, Personal Settings, Applications and use this token.

Alternatively, you may try to get rid of the stored credentials and add GitHub in Preferences - Hosting Providers. Then SmartGit should use the generated API token for https repository access, too.
