RFC: reduce log graph complexity by replacing far-distance arrows by smaller stubs

SmartGit mailing list
In SmartGit's Log connectors between distant commits are discontinued
and replaced by arrows to reduce the graph width. We are now considering
to replace these arrows by less intrusive stubs which will make large
graphs less complex to read (and internally to layout) and will help to
reduce width even further. For example, currently a Log graph for
git.git looks like:

After the proposed change, it will look like:

The stubs-graph is easier to read and looks neater. Are there any good
reasons why we should stay with the log arrows?
