Request: Dynamic filter for branches shown in log

Andrew Herron
Now that the "Select shown branches" dialog has checkboxes instead of multi-select in SmartGit 3 I'm using it a lot more; this is a really good way to filter the active branches in the legacy repository I work on. It has 3 different tasks under development at the moment which makes for a lot of noise.

However what I'd really like is for the selected list of branches to automatically include every branch name that matches a specific string; the behaviour I'm looking for is that when git fetch pulls in a new fix branch (the branch name always includes the version number) it automatically shows up in my log view without having to use the "all branches" view.

Cheers,
Andy

A filter working on the graph is something completely different to what we are doing currently. Would a filter in the dialog itself be helpful, so you can (1) limit display to all of your fix-branches and (2) quickly select all of them (resp. add those to the selection which are new)?

Fair enough. It would still be cool though :)

That would be a good start, yes. As long as the dialog remembers the filter so I don't have to re-type it every time I need to update the list!
