SmartGit 3 EA - maximise bug on OS X

Andrew Herron
I'm using EA 8 but this has been happening for a while - I don't close SmartGit very often so I keep forgetting to post about it :)

I use SmartGit maximised on a 27" iMac (10.7.2) with a second monitor connected on the right. I have my dock down the left side of the main screen.

When SmartGit 3 starts up, it's maximised but has a thin area on the right side of the app that sticks out past the edge of the main screen into the second screen. Oddly this area is thinner than the Dock taking up space on the left, so that can't be the only reason for it.

I also see this when I open a second project window (or use the new window command). Hitting the green maximise button pulls the window frame back into just the main screen.

This doesn't happen with SmartGit 2, or if the dock is set to auto-hide.

Cheers,
Andy

Hi Andrew,

Unfortunately, I can't reproduce the problem because our Mac does not support multiple monitors.

Does the problem only occurs for new, previously maximized windows?

Re: SmartGit 3 EA - maximise bug on OS X

Andrew Herron
The saved main window size must have been left in the config from back when the main window had fullscreen size problems in one of the early EA builds.

I shrunk it from the edges of the screen a bit, it now loads that way every time. If I maximise, it returns to the unmaximised state on load.

In the process however I found a reproducible bug with the log window. If I maximise the log window, the next time I load SmartGit 3 and open the log it's flush against the right side of the screen but not the left (it's about as far in from the edge of the dock as the width of the dock is from the edge of the screen).

Cheers,
Andy

Hi,

I use a MAC with a 27" screen with 2 monitor ( the 2nd on the right ).

With the menu at the bottom:
When I open SmartGit 3 ea5a, it will open to the last size the window was when I closed the app.

If I maximize the window, and then close the app, when I'll reopen it, it will take almost all the height, with more or less a inch of padding to left and right. The windows is not maximized.

With the menu at the left:

If I maximize the window, and then close the app, when I'll reopen it, it will take almost all the height, with more or less a inch of padding to left and right. The windows is not maximized.

If I resize manually the window to the full size of the screen -- I can resize it full screen, so that the left menu is hover the smartgit windows-- then close the app, then reopen it:

I'll have your "bug". SmartGit will open to the last size, but the window will be positioned to be align left with the menu, so the window is moved right at the exact distance of the menu width.

So basically, I can't reproduce, so it must be a problem with something else ...

Andrew Herron
Try EA 8. When I open SmartGit, it always goes to the last non-maximised size :)

The main window isn't a problem anymore though. It's the log window that I'm seeing a minor bug with now.
