Using the mouse scroll wheel on the "Switch Branch" dialog does not work

kevinarood
Hi there,

I've had this problem for some time but finally became frustrated enough to report it.  I have lots of branches in the repos that I work with (including remotes).  When trying to scroll from the top of the list using the mouse wheel, the list will not scroll past a certain point.

Thanks for any fix you can put in place.

Kevin Rood

Hi Kevin,

What OS you are using? How much branches you have? Basically, I see no reason why it should not scroll any more. The Switch Branch dialog contains a standard table control like the file table, too. Do you have similar problems for other tables, e.g. the file table, too?

Re: Using the mouse scroll wheel on the "Switch Branch" dialog does not work

Hi Thomas,

I use Ubuntu Linux (xubuntu 12.04 and ubuntu 11.04, Oracle Java 7).  There are perhaps a hundred branches.  When a branch is highlighted, you can scroll down using the wheel and the list will immediately jump back up so that the originally highlighted item in the list is visible again.  When you select another item (just to highlight it), the problem goes away.  You can imagine how irritating that is though since that breaks the workflow of using the mouse wheel to quickly scroll through the list.

Any help appreciated - thanks,

Kevin

Kevin,

We found out that the source of the scrolling problem is outside of our own code base, somewhere in our GUI library SWT. Workarounds have been tried without success, and a bug report has been submitted to the SWT team (https://bugs.eclipse.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=390007). Beyond that, I'm afraid there's little we can do about this problem at the moment.

In any case, the Switch dialog will be replaced in future versions of SmartGit (3.1 and later), which should fix this problem.
